A Little Life Update: The Summer

Well, it's certainly been a long while (again) since I posted anything on here!

In all honesty I was on the cusp of deleting Tea & Post and whilst I was toying with this idea, I took a peek for the first time in months at my old posts. That's when I noticed there's nearly three years worth of memories, photos and plans on here! I hadn't realised how much of a diary this blog had become until I stepped back for a while.

I decided to give up blogging in April after falling a little out of love with the whole idea. Feelings of not being good enough and worrying about how my blog appeared to others was really taking a toll and I found that it completely ruined my fondness for writing. Looking back, I think I was falling a little out of love with everything in my life at that point.

As the summer began I was becoming increasingly stressed, feeling trapped at both work and home and my health was beginning to suffer for it. I began having days where I would come home from work, climb straight into bed and just lay there for hours staring at the ceiling feeling very sorry for myself. Eventually I reached breaking point and told my manager that I didn't want to continue the path they had chosen for me. It was nerve-wracking, as there was a very big chance they could have turned around and said fine, sod off then you ungrateful cow. Something that would make paying back my ever-growing debts a little bit harder. But they didn't and it was the biggest relief. For the first time in a long time, I'm truly happy in my workplace and having the ability to decide what I want to study in the future is so exciting.

Once the stress of that was all over and I finally adapted to having my parents living under the same roof as me again, summer finally began and despite working a lot of overtime, it was pretty fun. I had a friend from California staying with me for a little while, bought myself a new car and started saying yes to more things. Which, in August, led to a friend convincing me to try Tinder out again. Properly this time. As in, actually having to reply to the boys I swiped right on. Scary stuff. In turn this led me back to the dating world, somewhere I've been trying to avoid for the past year. It was fun for a little while but as usual, everything with boys seems to get complicated. I think I've had enough for the rest of the year ha!

I spent a weekend in Amsterdam with two of the girls I went to Ibiza with last year, and despite the holiday being a little short, it was absolutely brilliant. I'm considering writing a bigger Amsterdam post as there's no way I'll be able to squish all my favourite bits into this little paragraph. Festivals were a complete fail on my part this year, I left it so last minute that I didn't get to go to any of them.

As my best pal and I were so bummed about not being at Creamfields, we did a little research into events nearer our area and came across Bugged Out at Dreamland. We'd seen that Groove Armada were playing a DJ set and once we also realised Jackmaster & Artwork would be there, we couldn't really not go! After managing to get fairly cheap tickets and booking the last available, decently priced room (it was fate, I tell you), we took the two hour drive down to Margate. It was probably the best night out so far this year. Dancing around a roller disco hall, sipping frozen mango mojitos and spinning round on the carousel after a few too many drinks was so much fun. Definitely want to go to the next one.

This has turned into quite the chatty post! I'm hoping that I'll put something again sometime soon, though I'm not making any promises. I'm attempting NaNoWriMo this year (National Novel Writing Month - something I've sworn I'll do every year since 2010, oops) and a lot of my time will be dedicated to that. It's the first time in a long time that I've had an idea of what to write in my head that I'm happy with. Usually I get bored and toss it out after a day or two haha!

Until next time.
